A Message From Josh Maple, NCS President
Updated: 1/11/08
“NCS is here for you!!”
In the past 8 months, NCS has changed by leaps and bounds.
As I said in my first Presidents Message, NCS is HERE for you!
The NCS Board of Directors has been on task to make sure we are
fullfilling this promise. Membership is rising and we are
headed to a new era in cockatiels.
New and Exciting Projects The NCS has implemented
several new projects. Thanks to all the volunteers that
have worked overtime to make sure these projects are being done.
NCS many many new volunteers working to make NCS a great place!
I want to thank each one personally who has come on board to
give to NCS. I've been on the Board and in appointed
positions for a very long time and I've never seen such an
outpouring of volunteerism in the history of NCS.
National Cockatiel Society Publication ("NCS Journal")
The NCS Journal has a new and improved look. Not only did
we change the graphics, but I and the Journal Editor have
received so many comments saying that they are reading the
Journals cover to cover. The NCS Journal has all new
articles. We don't want to reprint older articles for the
sake of filling up pages. We want to increase knowledge.
But, this year, NCS is reprinting very old articles that we
think will be of interest. These articles are there to
celebrate our 25th anniversary. The authors have been the
very people who have made NCS such a great place!
New Sales Store!
The next thing that was added was a new sales store.
Located at
www.cafepress.com/ncstiels. We've added dozens of new
items to our sales store and we have graphic designers working
on brand new designs for 2008. Again, NCS members working
to improve NCS.
Huge New Cookbook! FREE for online memberships! NCS is forging to new heights.
A new cookbook is being designed by Judy Brumley in Indiana.
Judy has always given unselfishly to NCS and I want to thank her
for her efforts. Also in the works is the new youth in
exhibition program. This program has taken a turn that
none of us could've ever expected. We have a proposal for
a very in depth program for not only NCS youth, but all youth
throughout the country. Sandy Warren, a
member in Illinois, is working hard with another national organization to
make this possible. We will let you know the details as
soon as it becomes official! I
hope in the next couple of months I'll be able to announce some
major national projects that will take NCS into the future.
We're working on funding for major research projects that could
prove to be a large fundraiser for aviculture in general.
If you would like to volunteer to work on any of these projects,
we do need your help. Again, I
speak for the NCS Board of Directors when I say "THANK YOU".
The excitement and the thrill of the new possibilities and the
already accomplished tasks has been overwhelming for us.
We are working hard for you and we thank each of you for your
support. Whether you are a l pet owner or breeder, each of
you are special to us. Our enthusiasm is with you, the NCS
member and your enthusiasm only makes us work harder.
